The Gold Rush of 1851 saw settlers from all over Australia flock into the Orange area. The promise of great riches soon faded as the harsh reality of gold mining hit. With the people in so much need, Rev. Josiah T Hinton was set the challenge of planting a church In Orange. On the 12th December 1869, 11 people met in a little home on Sale Street and Orange Baptist Church was born.
While Orange Baptist Church has changed from those early days, we remain a dynamic, growing community that still holds to the central focus on Jesus and His mission to the people of Orange and the world.
