At Orange Baptist Church, we believe:
-
That there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; equal in power and glory; and that this triune God created all, upholds all and is sovereign over all.
-
That the scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the inspired Word of God and the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
-
In God the Father, an eternal personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who believe in Jesus Christ.
-
In the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin. We believe in His sinless life, His atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and His personal, visible return to Earth when and how the Father chooses.
-
In the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convince the world of sin, righteousness and judgment and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide. We believe in the ongoing ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of the gifts of the Spirit for the good of the Body and the glory of God.
-
That all people are sinners by nature and are therefore under God’s judgment; that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit those who respond to and accept His free gift of salvation provided through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and that true believers receive salvation and the promised Holy Spirit at that initial conversion experience.
-
In the one True Church of Jesus Christ, the living spiritual Body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members.
-
That the Lord Jesus Christ established two ordinances for the Church in water baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe in baptism in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, by immersion, for believers only, and the Lord’s Supper being open to all who partake with a sincere heart.
